I accepted the role as Chair in March 2023. I truly value the opportunity in playing a key role in helping Hensall Primary keeping and developing its fantastic record of educating our children, enabling them to flourish and achieve their full potential. The children are at the heart of everything we do as a governing body.

I was inspired to become a Governor at Hensall in 2021 (as a parent at the time and who had just moved into the area) by the amount of hard work and dedication the staff put into providing such a supportive and nurturing environment for the children. I strongly believe that a child’s ability to learn can only be enhanced if they are supported both emotionally and socially, and I am incredibly proud of the fact that Hensall is diverse and inclusive environment for all our children.

In my day job I am a Business Relationship Manager for the UK’s largest Convenience retailer and have been with the company since 2008. I have a great deal of experience in setting up successful charities and projects and actively playing a role in their stewardship and governance. I am also a Parish Councillor for Eggborough and a Committee member of Selby Town FC.

As Chair and part of the strategic leadership team, my role is to lead and monitor the strategic direction of the school as part of the School Improvement Plan objectives. I look forward to being in school more often and listening to the children.

Business Interests: Teacher at Hensall Primary School

Over the past 7 years since joining Hensall, I have become a valued member of staff, who strives to do the best job possible for all children within our setting and I am immensely proud to work at such an amazing school. Personally, I feel that I have achieved many great things at Hensall, both inside and outside of the classroom, whether that’s doing the job of a Class Teacher or in my role as Physical Education Co-Ordinator. I am always looking to excel further, whether that’s completing further CPD or gaining experience in different positions within school.

I am ambitious, enthusiastic and passionate about my role and feel I offer valuable contributions in the role of a governor. Over the past 12 months, I feel that I have come so far as a teacher, under the guidance of the federation and the governing board, and would like to gain more valuable experience as a governor. I am consistently wanting to improve upon my skills, knowledge and experience within my profession and being a governor has enhanced my personal development and broadened my knowledge.
